The baby has been in need of shoes that fit, to keep her toes warm for the winter. I broke down and bought some yesterday. The 2nd shoe was hard to get on today, but the first one slipped on easily, so I knew they fit. I crammed the 2nd one on and went about my day...when I took them off tonight I thought it weird her toes looked all bunched and smooshed. Uh, there was a wad of tissue in the end of her shoe. Poor girl, too bad she can't talk and she's so easy-going she didn't even complain.

Candy experiments

The boys figured out what to do with all their candy. They decided all on their own that they wanted to do experiments with it. They chopped it, diced it, nuked it and stirred it. They learned a few things: peanut M&M's are hard to chop, skittles will explode in the microwave and chocolate covered nerds are NOT tasty. They had a blast and it didn't end up in their tummies.

In one week
This past week I managed to forget:
a dermatology appt.
a dentist appt.
and a webinar that I was one of 14 people that were able to listen in on a fabulous photographer share her editing tips.
All these events were in my planner and on my computer calendar that sends me reminders, and I mentally reminded myself 100 times before it even happened and I still forgot.
I give up. Don't plan on me being anywhere I am supposed to be for the next little while.

Happy Halloween

I hope everyone had a great Halloween. Unfortunately all 3 kids were under the weather. They missed out on so many parties this week, but they managed to trick-or-treat around the block. The cousins and grandparents even braved the germs and joined in our annual party.

Dear Daylight Savings,
I don't like you. I think it is ridiculous that you mess up my children's schedules twice a year. Can't we be like Arizona? I tried to refuse to change my clocks but everyone around me conformed. This issue is very important to me, but is it worth my time? I wish you would go away.
Sincerely,
me

Fleas...I mean flu.
At Tuesday's parenting class we were reminded to be grateful for everything we have in our life. She shared the story of Corrie Ten Boom stuck in a concentration camp infested with fleas, but the fleas allowed them to have nightly Bible worship without any guards coming in their shack because they didn't want the fleas.
Well, J may disagree with this, but I am grateful he came down with the flu. I have been trying to get into a doctor for months, Wed. J woke up with a temperature so I had to miss going to the gym. I got a call that there was an appointment cancellation and there was an opening an hour later. Dan was able to come home for lunch while I ran out to the doctor. She listened to me for over an HOUR, and hopefully now we will start to improve my health. Dan's not optimistic, but I can't not hope that things will improve. They FedEx'd my blood to Texas for extensive testing, today I had an ultrasound and hopefully we can rule out a few things and move forward. If nothing else, it was very validating to hear a doctor share my concerns and be sad for my trials.
Poor J though, he is missing a school party today, party tonight, fun activities that were planned for tomorrow...and if he doesn't get better he will miss a basketball game, football tournament game and all the cousins over on Halloween night for trick-or-treating. That's a LOT for a 7 year old to miss. Any ideas how to make it up to him?

Fall leaves
I wish I took a picture, but Dan came home from work the other day and was shocked at the amount of leaves that had fallen in our front yard. I had a silent chuckle then finally confessed that the neighborhood kids had gotten our sleds out and raked up a few of the neighbor's yards and deposited all the leaves in our yard. They then had a blast playing in them. Dan was a good sport about the fact that he had to bag leaves for an hour that night. Haha, it was funny!
